Facility upgrade and expansion with Airfloor (3195)

AIRFLOOR SYSTEM FOR COVERED COMPOST SYSTEM

Pacific Coast Renewables (PCR), a subsidiary of EverGen Infrastructure Corp., sought to upgrade the decade-old ‘Net Zero Waste’ composting facility to enhance performance and efficiency. Bioworks stepped in with a comprehensive design and supply package for five in-vessel compost bunkers, providing cutting-edge technology and virtually maintenance-free operations.

As part of the upgrade, Bioworks replaced undersized imported blowers and the outdated Gore air trench and cover system, which struggled to deliver adequate oxygen to the compost. The facility now benefits from high-performance North American-made fans, manifolds, and the Airfloor® aeration and leachate collection system. This advanced solution ensures optimal air distribution and reliable leachate control, significantly improving composting efficiency and overall facility performance.

Key Benefits:

  • Enhanced Aeration: The Airfloor® system ensures optimal air distribution, promoting effective composting while minimizing odors.
  • Efficient Leachate Management: Integrated leachate control significantly reduces odors and improves facility aesthetics.
  • Superior Design: Engineered manifold minimizes pressure losses, delivering uniform airflow and outperforming traditional flex-pipe, pipe-on-grade, or trench & plate systems.
  • High Capacity: Each 8m x 50m bunker, capable of holding 1,000 m³ of material, is supplied with up to 10,000 m³ of air to support microbial activity.
  • North American Manufacturing: Chosen for its superior quality and performance over imported systems, offering reliability and design simplicity.
  • Streamlined Operation: The system’s low-maintenance design provides consistent performance and improves overall facility efficiency.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: Competitive pricing paired with high-quality, innovative technology ensures excellent value.
