Lystek’s Southgate Organic Material Recovery Centre (OMRC) has demonstrated remarkable success in transforming biosolids into valuable fertilizer. Over its first decade, the facility produced, sold, and applied approximately 1,000,000 cubic meters of LysteGro® fertilizer to local agricultural customers. In a single year, 150,000 m³—nearly 40 million US gallons—of LysteGro was purchased by farmers and applied to over 10,000 acres of farmland. By diverting thousands of tonnes of biosolids from landfills, Lystek provides an innovative solution for sustainable farming and environmental stewardship.

A cornerstone of the facility’s operations is its advanced odor control system, utilizing Bioworks’ Airfloor® technology. The biofilter is designed for a 48,000 m³/hr airflow rate, ensuring ample capacity and residence time to effectively treat facility odors. Since its commissioning over a decade ago, the biofilter has consistently delivered exceptional performance, maintained odor-free operations and supported the facility’s commitment to sustainability and community harmony.
